Week of Feb. 4, 2019

Here’s what’s happening at Overlook this week:

  • CHIPOTLE FUNDRAISER: February 4th from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm at the Chipotle in Abington, 1437 Old York Road.  A flyer has been posted on Facebook that you can use at the register in either digital or printed forms or you can just mention that you are from Overlook.  In order to receive a check for 33% of sales we need $300 in total sales.  Spread the word to friends and family.
  • AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM:   Continues Wednesday after school with dismissal at 4:30.  If your child is designated as a Walker, they will be dismissed out the main entrance doors by the office.  If your child is designated as Parent Pick Up, please come into the building at the cafeteria entrance to sign your child out.  Please be patient if it takes us a few extra minutes to ensure that each child is safely being dismissed to the proper adult.  If you have any questions, please email asep@overlookvolunteers.com.
  • BLINGO: It’s BINGO season!  I know there are a TON of LOCAL bingo fundraiser’s lately… hope there have been some big winners! (and lots of $ raised for all these great local organizations!)
    • SAVE THE DATE for Overlook’s!  Friday, March 22.  FAMILY FRIENDLY!  With bingo prizes for ALL the kids, plus awesome baskets and auctions for everyone.  Keep an eye out for registration info and BE SURE TO PRE-REGISTER for a chance at the door prize! (New to Overlook?  This is an event you MUST put on your calendar!! A fun night for the whole family!) Also..
    • THANK YOU to Overlook Families for already reaching out to contribute to this year’s baskets!  (Kevin Van Horn – Everest Realty, Brian Eckenrode – Arcadia Running Clinic, Michele Montes – Michele Bee Photography).  Anyone else?? Let us know here at blingo@overlookvolunteers.com!
    • Classroom Baskets:  Homeroom parents will receive an email soon to help us coordinate grade-wide baskets!  Start thinking of great ideas! Remember, this is a way to get more families to feel connected to the event and excited to join us – high value is great but not required! Be creative and keep it fun!
    • 5th Grade Snack Bar: Don’t forget – any 5th grade parent interested in helping coordinate the snack bar should reach out as well.  We are still looking!
    • Blingo Organization meeting will be this week.  Email invites to anyone who expressed interest on the volunteer sign-up sheets in the beginning of the year will be sent today. If you want to join us, email blingo@overlookvolunteers.com for details!
  • 5K: Scheduled for April 13th this year, and will also include a 1.5 mile walk for those who don’t want to go the full 3 miles.  We are looking for donations from small businesses to sponsor this event.  If you or someone you know has a small business or a local business that would like to donate to the school as a way to advertise to our community, please contact Meghan at 5K@overlookvolunteers.com. Formal request letters and Tax ID information available.  Even a small donation makes a big difference!
  • PRETZEL DAY is WEDNESDAY!  Don’t forget to send in your $0.50 on TUESDAY for a Wednesday delivery.
  • SAVE THE DATES: 
    • TALENT SHOW:  The talent show is scheduled for Friday February 22, 7:00-8:30 PM and the dress rehearsal will be held on Tuesday February 9, after school from 3:30 to 5:30.  Questions: contact Jenny at y12jenny@aol.com.
    • PTO MEETING February 25 at 7:00 pm in the Overlook Library.  Dr. Fecher will be joining us for a presentation and to answer any questions.  There will also be a vote on the proposed PTO Bylaws amendments attached here at the February 25th PTO meeting.  There will be time allocated for any questions before the formal vote to accept these amendments.
